Knowing

I honestly don't know what to say about this movie. Knowing is about a sheet of paper found in a school time capsule that was written by a gifted but creepy girl. When the school that this little girl went to was first built they had all of the children draw pictures and put things in a time capsule that would be opened up on the schools 50th anniversary. Fast forward fifty years to the day of the time capsules opening. Caleb, the son of John(Cage), is given the numbered sheet. John eventually figures out that the sequence of numbers relate to the dates of major disasters. This is where the movie gets really good and then putters off into embarrassment. I do want to mention that the action sequences for the disasters are well worth the movie ticket price. The director and special effects guys were well up to par to make a amazing movie. But after the first half to three quarters of the movie finish this film takes a turn for the worse. In my opinion the ending makes some very radical jumps, almost as bad as the last Indiana Jones movie. Finally to top it all off I did not feel like there was very good acting in this movie shy of Cage. They just seemed to be script zombies, lending little emotion to the parts they were portraying. But I do want to say that this was a fairly decent movie overall but I defiantly wouldn't waste my time or money on a second showing.

Eriks Top Five Movies to Watch

I have no new movies to review for today so I figured I would post something about movies that I believe are a must see before you die.

The First of the three is The Crow. I was first shown this movie by one of my friends who is a movie buff.

The Crow is a story about a guitarist Eric Draven(played by Brandon Lee) who is brought back to life by a crow a year after his fiancees murder. The crow guides him through the land of the living to exact revenge on his killers. This is a creepy Gothic tale taking place in a dark crime ridden Detroit. I highly recommend this movie for anyone who wants a good movie with a interesting plot line.

The second movie I recommend is The Warriors.

This is a movie about a gang called the warriors who are framed for murdering a very powerful and influential gang lord named Cyrus. Cyrus called for all the gangs in New York city to send representatives to meet. Cyrus wants to unite all of the gangs in New York but as he is speaking a shot rings out and Cyrus falls dead. The murder is blamed on the Warriors and they are forced to flee across New York from the Bronx to Coney island while avoiding the cops and every other gang in New York city.
This is a very well made movie about the gangs in 1970 New York. I highly recommend this movie because of the character development and just the imaginative nature that the director had for this movie.

This is my last movie that I highly recommend. Yes, I know this is a chick flick but I have to tell you if your a guy and want to impress your girlfriend this is the move you bring in. The Pride and Prejudice movie is made after the book written by Jane Austin, who is considered by many to be the creator of the chick flick.

Pride and Prejudice is the definition of chick flick. It has love, comedy, hot guys(according to my girlfriends), and witty verbal fencing. The story is about the Bennet family. The father is gaining in years and is soon to pass away. He has only daughters so that when he does pass his entire estate will go to a distant cousin that none of the family likes. The only way to prevent this is for the daughters to find a husband so that he may take the estate. The perfect chance arrives when a wealthy aristocrat Mr. Bingly and his friend Mr. Darcy visit the area. The oldest sister Jane (Rosamund Pike) falls for a awkward but loving Mr. Bingly. While Elizabeth(Keira Knightley) clashes wittingly with the equally headstrong Mr. Darcy. According to my my friend the screenplay went along with the book very well and there was very little left out. I felt it is a very well made movie with amazingly witty dialog and old world humor.

Austrailia

I finally was able to find the time to watch the three hour epic of Australia staring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman last night.

Australia is a movie set in the 1939 Australian outback. A story about a Sarah Ashley(Nicole Kidman) who comes to Darwin, Australia to convince her husband to sell their cattle farm and move back to England. When she arrives she finds her husband murdered and a land baron planning to take over her land. In order to save her land she must drive the cattle she has to port. She enlist the help of a Mr. Drover (Hugh Jackman) and a few aboriginals to move the cattle to market. Along the way Ashley picks up and unofficially adopts a young aboriginal boy named Nulla.

Overall I have to say that this was a very good movie, but way too long. To me honestly I believe that they could of broke Australia up into two movies. The first one being from the beginning to the end of the drive and the second movie is after the war starts. That was the only problem that I had with this movie. Other than that the director did a fantastic job with the rest of the movie and really pulls on your emotional strings. There were points in this movie that I was set in awe from the special effects and scenery. Then other points where I felt my eyes watering from the emotional screen play. To my readers I completely recommend watching this movie but make sure you bring enough popcorn.

Star Treks Last Movie Trailer Before Launch

Click here to see the theatrical trailer.

This is last of many exceptionally confident trailers for this seemingly epic movie. In comparison to all of the other movie trailers original screened however this last one is a lot more slower paced. The last few released trailers had a lot of glitz and explosions. I was very happy to see some story and character development in this trailer. I expect exceptional things from this movie and i can't wait for the release date.

The plot summary of this movie from IMDB:

One grew up in the cornfields of Iowa, fighting for his independence, for a way out of a life that promised only indifference, aimlessness, and obscurity.

The other grew up on the jagged cliffs of the harsh Vulcan desert, fighting for acceptance, for a way to reconcile the logic he was taught with the emotions he felt.

In the far reaches of the galaxy, a machine of war bursts into existence in a place and time it was never meant to be. On a mission of retribution of the destruction of his planet, its half-mad captain seeks the death of every intelligent being, and the annihilation of every civilized world.

Kirk and Spock, two completely different and unyielding personalities, must find a way to lead the only crew, aboard the only ship, that can stop him.

The Watchmen

All that i can say about this movie is WOW! The watchmen movie is made after the graphic novel. According to my friend, the director did a very good job of creating this movie without obscuring from the novel. I personally believe that this movie was well made. I was very impressed with the special effects, the story line and the subtle comedy. The special effects were very believable and sleek. I also have to mention that both the director and the writer of the novel and movie had some inventive thoughts The story line was amazing. The story does not begin at the beginning but in the middle. The directors use of the flashbacks kept me well informed and clued me in on what was going on. There were no lose ends or me asking why? There were a few plot twist that i thought i easily picked out but there were some that really took me for a loop and made this movie amazing.
